Lovely musuem. We appreciated the African section, it was bigger than most. The ceramics exhibit was phenomenal. There were a lot(5+) areas that were restricted, "in progress" when we visited. Now we have to visit again to get the full experience.
The one and only NOMA. Great permanent collection. Nestled in City Park, it's a must see on your day off. Locals get in free on Wednesdays with LA ID. Also check out the botanical and sculpture gardens which are steps away. Celebration in the Oaks is a family friendly event held every year during year end holidays.
If the weather outside isnt cooperating or the tourist scene is too much come check out NOMA. Great collection and exhibits that not only give your insight to arts but to local history and background. Sculpture garden is very cool too. In the middle of City Park.
Very nice and quiet place to view. Be sure to check the venue's website to determine what is on display and for long. They also have music and film performances on Friday evenings.
One of my favorite art museums - the museum is well worth the trip (make sure to check out the Asian art gallery on the third floor), but the sculpture garden is AMAZING. The piece by Segal alone is worth the trip. "Karma" and "Spider" are only two of the other highlights.
