Unique experience to stroll quietly and respectfully among the 7,000 deceased in the heart of the Garden District. The cemetery is surrounded by massive 100yr old Magnolia trees and is likely the most interesting cemetery you'll visit in the city.
Really cool place. This was our first cemetery stop in New Orleans, so I’m not sure how it compares to the others. This one is free and open to the public, unlike Saint Louis no.1 which requires you to go in with a tour group. We walked around the area on our own and showed up at 2:30-ish right as a tour guide was getting ready to start, so we jumped in with her for the 30-min tour. Was Informative and engaging, though I was sad she only took us through half the cemetery. Don’t wait until closing time! Get there earlier so you can roam the place after catching a tour.
Beautiful and ancient, really wish the city took better care. It's free and you can wander around in there as long as you please. We rode the street car and walked up a few blocks to get here, a nice walk where you can see some of the beautiful garden district houses. Check the hours before going.
Awesome FREE cemetery you can visit! It's in a really nice neighboorhood and you can walk around the whole cemetery. Tour guides here work for tips.
Beautiful architecture. Quite reminds me of Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina (where I come from) Could take some beautiful pictures. It has a lot of historical value, and impressive structures. Definitely recommend paying this place a visit!
