The Mardi Gras exhibits were nice too. They display a good array of costumes and costume designs, with interesting history.
If you’re here at Jackson square then you need to spend the hour here. A necessary view of the Katrina disaster followed by a nice history of Mardi Gras.
Do it!
Pretty thorough museum. I really found the Katrina museum to be interesting. When the hurricane hit I was decently young and didn't see just what the city went through. It was surprising to see just all that the people of New Orleans had to go through during that time. Quite devastating.
We went through the Katrina exhibit and it opened my eyes to exactly what the people of New Orleans went through. Very well put together with multimedia displays and props. I highly recommend it if you have a few days to spend in the city.
Not a comprehensive explanation of either exhibit, but a great hidden gem on top of Jackson Square.
Very informative and nice to walk around! You can see the Katrina exhibit below, the Mardi Gras exhibit on the second floor. The costumes were so cool to see!!! If you go, get the pass to see the Cabildo as well to save a few bucks :)
