The monument of Gen. R. E. LEE was dedicated to the man, who served and was recognized as a US military veteran. The dedication had, although many uneducated POS think it was, nothing to do with the Confederate army, inwhich he served. First and foremost he was a general of the US army who, when his home state joined the Confederacy, followed his heart, just as many other brothers did. Once an American soldier, always an American soldier. After the Civil War, all military on both sides were given US VETERAN STATUS. So to all you uneducated people, GEN. ROBERT E. LEE, will always be an AMERICAN SOLDIER WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY PROUDLY.
I visited Lee circle before they took the statue down. It was pretty cool I don't get into politics of the statue's removal, and I still think that the circle itself is very well maintained in regards to the Landscaping. However, after the statue's removal it seems like there have been some vandals there who break glass on the sidewalk and leave needless laying around.
Pretty cool spot. alot of black people hanging from the trees but other then that pretty good...
Park was not real clean. The statue of Lee has been removed.
Lee is gone, I'll spend my tourist dollars elsewhere. Thanks for all the good times New Orleans.
