Five stars might be a bit high but I can't do 4.5 and our experience was better than a four. We stopped in almost by accident on our first night in town because my wife had a craving for some late night fried shrimp. I wasn't planning on eating so she just ordered the popcorn shrimp and boy was it good. I'm not sure how they managed such a good shrimpy taste in small shrimp but they did. Both dipping sauces were great too. We ended up having some extra time on our last day in town so we stopped back for more. Just a nice hole in the wall kind of place.
So my buddies and I came to DD's around 8 pm and there was no waiting necessary. Our server Justin seated us right away and we had our drinks in minutes. The hurricanes are definitely worth getting as they're unlimited and aren't "weak". The burger was cooked perfectly which is the issue I face at most places. Overall, I'd say this is one place to come to and it's off the main road so that's nice.
5 star gumbo!! Visiting from out of state and really enjoyed the diner food, but the service lacked 5 star quality. Waitress did not place our appetizer order as requested and individuals helping bring out food were quiet/seemed unsure of orders. Overall, good food and will return for the gumbo!
Went there for dinner. Service was great, no wait time, and everyone was very friendly. Food was good and not greasy which was a plus. They have breakfast whenever you want. A great atmosphere and TVs showing sports games to watch.
I definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you're looking for a reasonably priced place in the Bourbon Street area. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit and gravy. The eggs were good, biscuit seemed homemade and the gravy was surprisingly delicious! The hash browns were just OK. They were busy when we arrived, and the line was out the door, but every restaurant had waits around lunchtime. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and hard working.
