We rode the Natchez in July. Just saying because you'll most likely see another steam boat on your trip.
We found a nice table where we enjoyed the view. The day we took the tour was foggy but it was perfect to take amazing photos. The tour was very informative, we learned a bunch of things. If you have kids that love big boats, they will enjoy this tour because they will see many huge cargoes boats. But if you have impatient kids, this might not be a ride for you, as the boat take its time to return. We did not have lunch on the boat, but the food smelled good. The band on board was playing jazz classics like Amstrong's songs.
Very informative & entertaining! I've worked & relaxed on both sides of the Mississippi River, so it was nice to see it all from the middle! The jazz band was very classy! You can view the engine room during operation & read all about it while in motion. The Captain & the Crew were very excellent hosts! It's an amazing way to see how goods are transported internationally on ships while enjoying a meal, a nice drink, & great music on a historical ride in New Orleans!
It's been a few years, but I will never forget seeing those huge cargo ships from all over the world. A fantastic experience. Very eye opening. Would definitely do the cruise again.
Will never go on this tour again. My sister mom and I spent over 150 dollars to go on the tour. When we first got seated on the boat the tour guide came up to our table slammed his water and coffee down and said "I'm using this table." Never introduced himself, never said excuse me, or do you mind if I set these down. Fast forward 30 minutes later, we had a lady from New Zealand sit with us - we were trying to be nice and make conversation. On the previous boat tour we had gone on (the bigger one) we could listen to the guy talk when we wanted to or talk amongst ourselves and enjoy the scenery. Apparently this boat, do not talk, do not drink, do not do anything. Not only did we get reprimanded by the tour guy, he also started making derogatory jokes about us over the microphone. It wasn't until my sister heard him that we went downstairs into the cabin. It ended up starting a huge fight with my family and next thing I knew we were all in tears. We tried to go back to the place we paid for the tour, the lady gave us the number to the manager who runs the boat. We attempted calling three different times, and let voicemails and never heard anything back. WILL NEVER GO ON THIS TOUR AGAIN. Don't waste you money - if you go on one, go on the bigger boat. Waste of money, and so unprofessional.
7/31/15 I was very disappointed in the dinner. The beef was very chewy and most people didn't eat it. On the plus side, our group enjoyed the boat ride and music. The narrative of what we were seeing was great. Loved the band. One of our group became very ill at the end of the cruise and your captain was very helpful in getting an ambulance for us.
